Recreational vehicles are one of the most popular ways to enjoy state parks, and while most folks think about visiting parks in spring or summer, the crisp, cool days of fall and winter are ideal for outdoor fun.

And if getting ahead of your shopping chores is not reason enough to venture outdoors, there’s a host of holiday events that may entice you. Here’s a list of a few upcoming events across the state.
Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Site
Stroll the trail of lights at Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Site near La Grange. The quarter-mile trail has been transformed with thousands of lights and you can see the lights of the town of La Grange from the trail’s hillside overlook. The historic home of H.L. Kreische is decorated in traditional Texas-German 1850s-eraChristmas splendor. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be on hand.

Goliad State Park
Goliad State Park invites you to visit the “History in Lights” exhibit, which will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm throughout the month of December. Lights and shadows will tell the story of this remarkable site as visitors walk the same path taken by Native Americans and Spanish Franciscans Priests so long ago. Come walk the path of history!
LBJ State Park, Stonewall Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm at LBJ State Park
Experience the 46th Annual LBJ Tree Lighting at LBJ State Park. Join the Texas Hill Country Community in this special tradition started 46 years ago by President and
Mrs. Johnson. Enjoy carolers, a live nativity, Santa Claus, the spectacular tree lighting and more. Then revisit the past at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm where you’ll find special German cookies and cakes, glowing lanterns, and a traditional candlelit German Christmas tree.
The park store will be open to help you find all your last minute holiday gifts.
