THE RV OUTLET MALL STORY

RV Outlet Mall was founded in 1994 by Jim & Deborah Pennington. They were RV enthusiasts at the time, and were tired of traveling but wanted to share the joys of the road with others. After purchasing an RV for their personal use in 1992, a dealer invited the two to assist with an upcoming RV show. Jim & Deborah soon found that they liked the excitement of selling RVs, dealing with the public, and traveling in a "mobile condo" where all the comforts of home were provided.

After several shows the notion of starting their own dealership started to grow on them, and one day, they decided to try their hand in the wheeling and dealing of the RV business It took a couple of years for them to find a suitable property and lineup manufacturers and soon they were in business.

They purchased an old, abandoned car dealership on Interstate Highway 35 in Georgetown, Texas and refurbished the buildings with the help of a retired carpenter. The facility provided a terrific location and also had a great potential for growth with its five acres of pavement and large buildings. They hired two young people to assist them, one for service work and the other to keep the books. (Those same two young folks are still with the company today.)

They didn't realize that the business would virtually explode overnight. With Jim & Deborah selling RVs during the day and all four of them washing RVs by night, they delivered twenty-eight units the first month. By the end of the first year of business, RV Outlet Mall was in the top 20 largest RV dealers in the State. This was a far cry from the "Mom & Pop" operation they had imagined.

RV Outlet Mall now encompasses 18 acres and has expanded to more than forty employees. RV Outlet Mall is one of the Top 5 Towable Dealers in Texas and is known for its friendly service and no-hassle sales philosophy that was established by Jim & Deborah. Jim's daughter joined the company in 2000 as a sales person and is now the General Manager. While Jim is no longer with us, and we are sure that he enjoys his big RV in the sky, Deb continues to RV and enjoys traveling around the USA.
